Журналист поставил представителя Госдепа в тупик вопросом о Сирии
МОСКВА, 12 окт – РИА Новости. Представитель Госдепартамента США Джон Кирби замешкался с ответом на вопрос о Сирии и Йемене, который задал журналист Ассошиэйтед Пресс Мэтт Ли. Об этом сообщает Independent.Во время брифинга в среду Мэтт Ли спросил Кирби о недавнем авиаударе по траурной церемонии в Йемене, в результате которого погибли 140 человек. Йеменские повстанцы-хуситы обвинили в инциденте коалицию, которую возглавляет Саудовская Аравия.
"Мне интересно, администрация (президента США) усматривает разницу между подобными вещами и тем, в чем вы обвиняете русских, сирийцев и иранцев в Сирии, особенно в Алеппо?" – спросил журналист.
Вопрос вызвал у Кирби явное замешательство. "Да, думаю, некоторые различия есть", — произнес представитель Госдепа.
По некоторому размышлению Кирби пояснил, что Эр-Рияд публично объявил о расследовании инцидента в Йемене. В Сирии же, по его словам, все иначе: силы правительства и российские ВКС якобы "намеренно" бомбят гражданские цели и не собираются проводить расследования.
Мэтт Ли в ответ указал, что Россия призвала найти виновных в атаке на гумконвой в Сирии. Кирби же заявил, что Москва сделала это не так "отчетливо", как Эр-Рияд.
Журналист выразил недоумение также в связи с тем, что США подчеркивают "умышленность" авиаударов в случае Сирии, но не в случае Саудовской Аравии. Джону Кирби пришлось возразить, что он такого не говорил.
Сотрудник Госдепа попытался оправдать бомбардировки в Йемене тем, что Саудовская Аравия действует из соображений самообороны.
"Коалиция во главе с Саудовской Аравией действует по приглашению правительства Йемена. Знаю, вы скажете, что Россию пригласил Асад Но они (саудиты) находятся под реальной угрозой", — заявил Кирби.
Стране угрожают ракеты, поставляемые йеменским повстанцам Ираном, добавил Кирби. Мэтт Ли возразил, что в этой логике мирным жителям Йемена угрожает американское оружие, которое США предоставили Эр-Рияду и его партнерам по коалиции. Эту проблему представитель Госдепартамента признал.
